I’ve always believed that every book has a story to tell, even the ones that have seen better days. And, as it turns out, crafting and books have always been part of my story, too.
I live in Havering with my husband Jamie and our two dogs, Bert and Ted. We enjoy our walks together; being outdoors and exploring new places is when I get most of my ideas and inspiration! I am really passionate about caring for our environment.
I made my very first notebook when I was just five years old. Little did they know but my teachers were paving the way for big things to come!
I grew up loving history, which led me to a career in museums. I got to dive into the past while indulging my creative side, running craft workshops to help families connect with history in hands-on ways.
In 2009 I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) but it's fair to say having a disability has not held me back! In 2011, I turned my passion for crafting into a stationery business, Retro from Scratch.
I create nostalgic notebooks by saving damaged books and upcycle them to give them a new lease of life. It is the left over book paper that I use for my in-person workshops and craft kits - so that everything gets recycled and nothing goes to waste.
I have delivered to a variety of groups, from making 75 Christmas crackers in one sitting with the Brentwood Belles WI, teaching Stacey Solomon how to make a gift bow for her Christmas Craft TV show, and fabulous hen parties; to smaller, more intimate groups. From children to adults; drop along activities, working with local councils and libraries, and delivering online classes with the Women's Institute's Learning Hub.
Whilst doing my family history I discovered that book binding has been in my family for six generations! It's literally in my blood. So in 2025 I decided maybe it was time I should have a book of my own. And so I wrote my very first craft book 'Old Books: New Life' to share my crafting passion.
